Location: St. Croix is an island of friendly people, noted for its relaxed atmosphere, quiet charm and natural beauty - "the perfect place to be" (New York Sunday Times). It is the largest of the US Virgin Islands - four times the size of St.Thomas, but with a fraction of its development. St. Croix offers some of the best water sports, golf and tennis in the Caribbean. It is blessed with consistently good weather with day temperatures ranging from the mid-70s in winter to the mid-80s in summer, cooled by gentle easterly trade winds.

Property: The Great House at Catherine's Hope is one of the fines residences on St.Croix. Recently completed, it is offered in immaculate condition. Totally secluded in its thirteen acres of landscaped gardens and natural vegetation, the property commands breathtaking and uninterrupted all-round views from its hilltop position, 600 feet above sea level. To the north is Buck Island with its gleaming white sands and the sparkling turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, dotted with sailboats from the nearby marinas; to the east and south, surf breaks over miles of coral reef with the tranquillity of the deeper azure ocean beyond; to the west deer graze alongside cattle in fertile valleys.
All this is less than ten miles from the shops, restaurants and nightlife of the historic eighteenth century Danish town of Christiansted. Local beaches are easily accessible. The Alexander Hamilton Airport, with daily direct flights to the United States and connecting flights to major European centers, is a forty-minute drive from Catherine's Hope.
In designing the Great House, prominent Californian Architect D.A. Williams, has combined the best of traditional local styles with the comforts of modern living. The property has been built and finished to the highest standards, using imported materials, and has benefited from the sophistication of European interior design. Landscaped gardens and exterior lighting complement the excellent architectural design. Native stone has been used to face planters and some outside walls. Arched galleries, to the north and south, maximize the superlative views. They provide shade from the year-round sun and capture the cooling breezes.
A short flight of steps leads from the driveway to the front doors, which open into a spacious, marble-floored living area. Vaulted ceilings, with exposed white oak beams, rise dramatically to twenty feet. Arched sliding glass doors, fitted with external wooden louvered shutters, give access to the north and south galleries. There is a raised dining area and a secluded library. A central stereo system provides music to the main living areas and galleries. Ceiling fans are installed throughout the house.
